Senior Housing Assistance Fund (SHAF):
The Southwestern CT Agency on Aging, through the generosity of the Fairfield County Community Foundation, has established The Senior Housing Assistance Fund (SHAF); a no-interest loan program to assist low income individuals over the age of 60 or disabled adults.
The loan may be used to pay for a security deposit, moving expenses, minor home repairs or other necessary expenses that will enable the person to remain in their home safely or to move to safe, affordable housing.

Renter’s Rebate Program:
The State of CT through the Renters Rebate program provides a direct, partial reimbursement of rent and utility bills paid by certain renters. This program will reimburse Connecticut renters who are either 60+ years old or 18+ years and totally disabled.
Persons renting an apartment or room, or living in cooperative housing or mobile home may be eligible for this program. Applicants must meet certain income limits and a one year state residency requirement. The renters’ rebate amount is based on a graduated income scale and the amount of rent and utility payments (excluding telephone) made in the calendar year prior to the year in which the renter applies.
Rebates can range from $50 to $900 for married couples and up to $700 for single persons. Application may be made between April 1st and October 1st at either your local Social Service Office or the Assessor’s Office.
