AARP Tax Aide

AARP's Tax-Aide Program is the largest, free volunteer-run tax assistance program in the country.  It is available to taxpayers wiht low and moderate incomes and gives special attention to people age 60 and older.  Volunteer opportunities are available for the upcoming tax season.  Training begins in December. Retired & Senior Volunteer  Program (RSVP)

RSVP provides opportunities to persons 55 years of age and older who wish to participate in their communities by sharing their knowledge and skills through meaningful volunteer opportunities.  Connectictut has 12 RSVP programs throughout the state that help connect older adults to with community organizations that need their assistance.  Volunteers are placed in a variety of settings including nursing homes, day care centers, hospice programs, home health agencies, senior centers, mentoring programs and other rewarding  positions.  Listed below our the local RSVP agencies in Southwestern Connecticut.

Voluntary Services for the Blind

Voluntary Services for the Blind seeks to improve the quality of life for viusally impaired persons.  It provides services entirely through volunteers.  All volunteers are properly trained.  Volunteer services provided include readers, drivers, friendly visitors, shoppers and home clerical assistants.
