SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM               (formerly called Food Stamps)

A program administered by Department of Social Services (DSS) in Connecticut.  It provides monthly cash benefits that help low-income households buy the food they need for good health.  The amount of money available to eligible persons depends on the number of people in the household, income, plus rent and utility expenses.
